Thank You 2009!

Dear 2009,

As you rapidly come to a close I just have to say thank you!
You have made me a mom, a role I have forever wanted to play.
I will always look back on you as a good year,
One that dreams came true and we became a family.
Thank you 2009!

Off to see some fireworks now and a then we will be enjoying a quite night at home.
I can't wait to see what 2010 has in store for our family and all of yours as well!
Hope you have a wonderful New Year!!

Desiderata

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Fishy

My mom got B a fish tank for Christmas.
B has been so excited to get a fish for it ever since he opened it {understandably}
Fish tanks are kinda lame with no fish in them:)
We went to the pet store 3 days ago to pick one out
and there were all of about 4 fish to choose from
Apparently we were not the only ones to receive fish tanks as gifts this year
We picked out a fish {with really big bubble eyes} and asked the guy to get him for us
He asked me if I had the water set up
I told him I set everything up that morning
I didn't read the directions or I would have known
that the water needs to sit for a minimum of 48 hours {72 is ideal}
So I had to explain to B that we needed to make the tank safe for our new fish
and we could not bring our fish home today
It want better then expected and we went home
Today the water was ready and we went back to the pet store
They had just got a new shipment of fish in so we had a much better selection
B picked out a white goldfish with a big orange bubble on it's headHe is super cute
B named him Popeye
I hope that he stays alive
I don't have to best track record with fish
And B loves him so much

Day of rest

We are still unwinding from Christmas over here. Today was the first day we have had to ourselves since Christmas eve. No toys were even touched until today. So we spent the day opening up and putting together presents and playing with them. It was so nice to not have anything to do. I will be back to my normal posting self tomorrow. Hope everyone has a relaxing few days. Here is some cuteness to hold you over:)

Getting to know you!

This weeks Getting to know YOU {Started by Keely over at Mannland5} question was :

What was your favorite gift that you received this year for Christmas?

So this was a pretty easy one for me. I got a Canon rebel t1i for Christmas from my dad. I love it so much! I am still in a bit of shock that is mine. I spent so much time over the last 5 months researching cameras that it is hard for me to believe the search is over. I think I have taken more pictures in the last week then I have in my whole life. I am starting to get the hang of it but there was a huge learning curve. I kinda thought I would pull it out of the box and take profesional pictures, but not so much. It has so many options it takes some getting used to. And me and photoshop have a bit of a love hate relationship, but I could not be happier. Michael got me the cutest camera bag and strap to go with it. At first I didn't think I needed a bag but now that I have it I realized I was crazy. It's awesome!

Edit~
Because Keely asked here is the Bag that I got. It has a spot for an extra lens and a flash on the inside. (or two lens and no flash) It also has a front pocket for keys, memory cards, etc. and a back pocket. The strap is so comfy. It is not bulky at all which I love but it is padded so everything feels super protected. It is brown on the outside and orange on the inside. Have I ever mentioned how much I love orange.
I got this strap from a seller on Esty called Lucky Straps. I am in love with the fabric and it is lined with red minky which is so soft. It even has a little bling:)

I would love to hear about what everyone else got for Christmas so hop over to Keely's blog and link up!

Chrismas at my Dad's

After we opened presents at home on Christmas morning we headed over to my dad's to celebrate with him.

Santa brought B some mustaches. Which I think are the cutest thing in the world and now I don't have to paint them on with face paint anymore like we used to do.

My dad got me this awesome sweater which I haven't taken off since. He also got me my new camera a few weeks ago as an early Christmas present. Oh how I love my new camera.

We shared some family hugs.

B got a drum which he was beyond excited about.

We had a wonderful first Christmas as a family. And the fun didn't stop there. After lunch we drove to my mom's but thats for another post. I hope you all had a magical Christmas!

Sneak Peak

I just finished getting everything in order for the morning. Presents are waiting under the tree to be found by a certain 4 year old boy and I can't sleep I am so excited. We had a super busy day filled with family and friends. We went to Michael's moms and B was showered with presents.
He got the two things he wanted most, a microphone and a guitar. He is such a little rockstar. He went to bed a very happy boy. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!!

Sub Zero

We live a few blocks from the river. Often when it is late but B is not tried enough to go to bed we toss him in the Ergo and take a walk to look at the boats. There is one in particular that is his favorite. Its a Black Submarine. You can go on and take a tour but we are always there at night when it is closed.

My dad took me on with my cousin when I was about B's age and my dads mom took him on when he was young as well. The other morning we were trying to figure out what to to for the day so I called up my Dad and ask if he wanted to join us on our adventure. The three of us walked down to the river and hopped aboard the sub.

It was much tighter in there then my dad or I remembered. We could barely fit through the door ways. They were the perfect size for a certain 4 year old boy I know. He cannot stop talking about his trip on the sub. He is telling everyone who will listen. The guy ringing us up at whole food heard all about it.

I have so much to do to be ready for Christmas it is not even funny. I can't even believe I am posting at a time like this. I am so behind and I have a the case worker coming over tomorrow, B is in desperate need of a hair cut, and I still haven't found anything I am happy with for him to wear on Christmas. I better get on that.

Not Me Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

Last Monday before Christmas people!
I am NOT getting so excited I can hardly control myself. Oh no NOT me!
I am NOT usually a huge Grinch this time of year and I did NOT manage to brake the cycle this year somehow. I am NOT totally proud of myself.

We did NOT get 2 feet of snow in the past 2 days.
I was NOT more excited then my child about this.
Well I guess we were just excited for different reasons.
The only reason I wanted to go outside was NOT to get the perfect pictures of B in the snow. The only reason B wanted to go outside was NOT to put his face in the snow.
I did NOT have to catch myself getting super annoyed with him because he was not {thats a for real not} cooperating with my said photo shoot. After we came inside I did NOT try to get him to let me take his picture again.
When I realized he wasn't really feeling it I did NOT allow him to jump from his windowsill to his bed with his shoes on. Oh no NOT me! I am always telling him not to do this because its dangerous. And shoes on the bed? Really Maura, have you lost your mind? All for a photo that came out to dark anyway:) At least he had fun!
